Looking Cute Baby!

Well my goodness, it’s been awhile but very rewarding last few months. I will show you some of the items I knit and crocheted for our new and 1st grandbaby.

The first two outfits are for her photo shoot.

Baby Turtle Set by Southern Posh Patterns  The turtle outfit is not practical to wear but pretty darn cute anyway.  It was so much fun to crochet.

I love to crochet baby blankets, they are quicker than knitting and very warm if needed. I used the Lion Brand free pattern and made just one change.  Instead of  double crochet two rows for each color , I did four rows and that gave it a chevron look that is so popular these days.

Knit a plethora of washcloths for mommy and baby. Pattern by Simply Notable and it’s called The Almost Lost Washcloth.

Saying goodbye to an old friend.

We have had the most beautiful weather for winter in Southern California…..meaning warm and sometimes into the 80’s!  A most odd year so far, hope that does not mean we will have a very cool summer.  But no matter the weather, it’s always perfect for knitting.  The chevron cowl I knit for a friend was finally finished in January, yay!!  The cowl scarf is 6 feet long.

We sadly lost a family member and friend last week named Heidi cat, she was about 17 years old and was very much a part of our family. She was sick for a very short time.  Heidi was so smart and stubborn.  She loved to talk to us (very vocal).  Heidi left behind a sister of the same age and a much younger stepsister.  We miss her so much.

Christmas EVE, EVE!!

Well it’s almost Christmas and I have done most of the festivities before the 25th.  Like……the Christmas party, Christmas musical, gift exchange with friends and most of  the family, even had Christmas dinner already! We celebrated Christmas early with one of our son’s and daughter in law already as she has a large family and wants to make the rounds to everyone.  So in my mind, I feel like I have already done it all! But WAIT….. there’s MORE!  Celebrating the birth of Jesus is the best and most important part of the season 🙂

Knitting for first Grand-baby!

How do you like the snow? It does not snow here in Southern Calif where I live but thought it would be nice to add snow to the blog for awhile.  I skipped a whole month of blogging….so sorry 😦  Where does the time go??

My husband and I are going to become grandparents, SHE is entering this world next May.  Needless to say, I am so excited and have another excuse to knit baby things ♥ of course…..I never really need an excuse to knit! Here are some of my fave knit and crochet things from a past post: Baby fun to knit and crochet.  Since that post I have found so many more patterns and gift ideas.

Love this crochet turtle outfit for photo shoots!!

I have been working on a special order for a friend.  It’s a chevron cowl scarf, knit in that round and will be connected to the other end with the Kitchener stitch (grafting). The yarn is cotton fingerweight yarn from KnitPicks.com and the pattern is from Craftsy.com website.

I have not created any new patterns lately, it takes a lot of thought and time which I don’t have right now. Still studying real estate, filling orders and baby stuff. Please check out my etsy shop at trimitup.etsy.com.

Sure hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and an abundance of food and family!  I will try to post at least one more time before Christmas.

Please enjoy this holiday season and don’t forget to knit for someone you love!!

Being in the moment

2012-10-13 12.03.10 I was mindlessly thumbing……. (Yep) through one of my favorite magazines, when I saw a series of very good articles on being in the moment.   You hear and read a lot about being in the moment, savor, or relish the moment.  (No multitasking here)  It’s actually really hard for me to stay focused and in the moment, I’m sorry to say.  Most of the time I’m thinking about what’s next for the day, month, year etc.  Just ask my husband!  A.D.D. runs in our family so I’d like to think it’s mostly that, (No excuses here) but I think most of us have issues with living in the moment from time to time most of the time, don’t you think?

When knitting, If i am not in the moment, then that is when stupid mistakes happen and it costs me a lot of time to make it right again.  In one of my first blog posts, Link: Duotasking-Knitting I talk about what happens when you are doing too many things at once and that the end result can be a disaster.  The Wall Street Journal says Multitasking makes us stupider.  Hummm.  We are not stupid people but just not being in the moment.  There……. I got that of my chest 🙂

2013-10-24 13.23.19

2013-10-24 13.22.43I have finished the Swiss Cheese scarf: pattern here is free from Ravelry.  The yarn is from Knit Picks, called “Stroll” in fingering wt. (sock yarn) The colorway is Goldrush Tonal. I used two skeins. Love, love, love the colorway because it complements many colors in my wardrobe. I do wish the scarf was just a little longer but ran out of yarn.

The pattern was not very difficult to knit, somewhat fun but after awhile I did get a little bored.

Starting a new project soon for a friend and maybe some baby projects.  Show ya next time!

Please try to stay in the knitting moment so you don’t have to frog, haha!
