Where are my belated yarn things?

Day 4, Where are they now?

Boy, I really had to think about that question and where all my giveaways & keepers are, and how are they holding up? But as I thought about it I realized that there is an afghan sitting on the couch that I made about 5 years ago with Vanna’s yarn, duh! (and it’s still holding up well.) I have made several afghans and all of them were crocheted except one that was knitted.  Crochet was mostly what I did 5 years ago.  But also crocheting afghans make more sense to me because they are quicker to make as opposed to knitting one.  I made all of them with acrylic yarn because it’s generally less costly and holds up well.

I also made the “Something Red” cardigan by Wendy Bernard.  I love wearing  this cardigan, it’s very comfortable.  It was knit in a cotton blend by Lion Brand,Cotton Ease in terracotta and knit from the top down with long sleeves.  I made it last year but hope it lasts a long time.

My first top down was a shrug that I gave to my husband’s cousin a few years ago.  I don’t have a picture of it but she was very happy with it (at least I think so).

I crocheted a cardigan for my youngest son but he didn’t like wearing it that much.  I still have it but it’s stored away for now in hopes that a someday future grandchild might want to wear it.  I also made many toys for them, they loved those stuffed toys but once again I don’t have any pictures of them, and not sure where they are.  Some of them did wear out.

There have been many baby showers where I knit or crocheted baby gifts……I wonder how they are holding up?

Well I must say that writing this blog reminds me that most of what I made 20-30 years ago was not knit but crocheted.  The last five years have been knitting years and boy have I learned a lot!

Happy knitting 🙂

  1. And remember all the baby blankets for the new moms at Small Wonders Preschool? And I have a lovely knitted dog dishcloth that is holding up beautifully.

    • Yes! Thanks for the reminder.

  2. I think it makes more sense to crochet afghans rather than knit them, too, having done both. For now I’m settling for lap robes, though, for a charity project.
