Kitty play!

Not much knitting done today, but the kitties are at play with a new toy I bought for them.  It’s a toy system where you attach a different toy to a wand by way of a short chain.  The one they like the best is the sparkly foil toy.  I was not as excited about it but they absolutely love that one.  Here are some pics of them playing with it.  How can I tell which one is their favorite?  because while playing with the other feather attachments, they keep going back to the same foil tassel.  Go figure………..they like foil better than feathers!

Watched disk 1 of the Wallace & Gromit Crackling Collection DVD today. Lot’s-O-Fun!!!

Happy knitting : )

Embellish knit gadget

I love gadgets…… found a new one called the Embellish Knit.  This one makes i-cords for embellishing purses, making flowers, buttons etc.  I make a lot of  i-cords for various project like hats, bag and such.  So I though I’d give this one a try.  Love, love, love it!

Here’s the link: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000WUTJS2/ref=asc_df_B000WUTJS21576919?smid=A2IWCJ0AJPPRJZ&tag=dealtmp585297-20&linkCode=asn&creative=395105&creativeASIN=B000WUTJS2

It is recommended to use Caron yarnbut I found that any soft yarn will work.  It is also recommended to use fingering to sport weight yarn but found that you can use worsted weight if you go slow which the instructions suggest anyway.  The gadget makes cords so much faster than with DPN’s and looks so nice and even too!  You need to go slowly at first but once it’s going it’s great.  Sometime I found that the cord doesn’t look right at first, but you can cut off the very beginning later and unravel it so it looks the same at both ends.  It’s a great little gadget.

Give it a try!

Autumn Dream Scarf finished

I’m pretty happy with the Autumn Dream scarf by Wendy Johnson. The yarn used was Malabrigo sock yarn the colorway is called Turner but my son asked if the color was camoflage…..I’m not very happy with that comment, I’m not very happy with the colorway any longer, either.

The update on the mystery shawlette…..it’s a good thing gone bad……apparently when I did the set up row for the shawlette I was off by two 12 stitch sections so it had become lopsided and didn’t notice till well into it.  So I am very sad and very behind on  the KAL and not sure at this time that restarting is what I want to do right now.  In my mind I had already begun to move on to another project when the shawlette was done.  Will see!

Happy knitting 🙂

Knitting for the Troops!

I live in a military town, so it’s not surprising to hear about many events that support them here.  There are lots of fundraisers like golf tournaments, races, fairs, etc. to help give support to the military in areas where they might not get help from the armed forces. Like for extra medical expenses not covered or for emergency trips   (The money only goes so far.)

I am very proud to live in a community where you see such support for the armed forces, and want to do my part by knitting for the military in some way.  My husband was in the military stationed at West Point years ago and I am very proud of him, but wished I could have knit for him had known him then.  (I do now!)

Memorial Day weekend is almost here and, if you are interested in knitting something to support the troops, here are a few links to check out that might inspire you to give back to them who have done so much for us!  Maybe you could knit helmet liners or gloves, they can really use them when going to war in the cold seasons.
