Thinking Fall!!!

I know it’s still summer, but I noticed that people are starting to buy fall items such as hats and scarves from my ETSY store.  So I guess I should start knitting more fall items to put in it.   I’ve been seeing the beginnings of Halloween in the stores already, haven’t you?

Ravelry.com is a wonderful place to get lots of ideas for the fall and winter weather.  Daily there are dozens of new patterns being offered by seasoned designers and new designers, too. I have a plethora of patterns from ravelry already so really….. I should just start using more of those instead of collecting more.  (That’s so hard to do :o)   Sometimes, I get over loaded with too much information and land up just doing the same favorites.  So, no, I haven’t decided what new fall things to knit yet.

On a different note, my younger son just Skype‘d me while I was working on this blog to tell me that he is working on the music for a popular television show…..can’t tell you which one ’til it’s in the bag.  I am so proud of him!  But the sad part is, he can’t visit till he’s done with the music gig.  See…….he was going to visit us next week, but then this music thing came up.  We haven’t seen him since our move to Southern California.

PS, I will let you know what tv show my son is writing music for soon!

Happy knitting : )

Knitting a Pimlico Shrug

Cover of "Knit 2 Together: Patterns and S...

Cover via Amazon

I’m excited about my newest knitting project….. a shrug!……nothing like starting a new project, right?  Well, anyways, this one is called Pimlico Shrug; named after a neighborhood in London.  The pattern is from the knit 2 together book by Tracey Ullman and Mel Clark.

The colorway I’m using is Grey (Bramble Heather) by Knit Picks of course!  And 100% Peruvian Highland Wool.  The picture here is a little blurry, sorry about that.   As you can see here I am at the beginning stages of what looks like a fun knit!

Happy knitting : )

Vogue Knitting app!!!

Just in case you haven’t heard about the Vogue knitting app or don’t want to spent the 3.99 it cost to get this app iPhone app, then you might change your mind about it if you learned how useful it is!

The Vogue Knitting app is a very handy gadget, and I love gadgets.  This one has so much to offer and I think more than the other knit apps do. (Well worth the 3.99)  It’s so handy because you always have it with you when you need to refresh your memory on a stitch that your working on while on the go!

You can store your projects, needles, hooks, books and yarn in the app.  Then there’s a “More” section where you will find a stitch reference which has a plethora of stitch patterns.  A how-to on knitting and crocheting and beyond basics and a whole section on color work (Very handy).  There’s even help for when you need to swap out a yarn asked for in a pattern, called the Substitute yarn calculator!

I really feel that this is a must have (NEED )app for your phone.      Have a great weekend and Happy knitting : )

Finished the cardi vest!

Well I finally finished the Botanica Medallion cardigan from Vogue knitting magazine, Spring/Summer issue, 2009.  I’m pretty happy with the results and am now glad I chose this pattern.  The yarn used is from Knitpicks.com’s website, 70% Tanquis Cotton, 30% Linen.  I prefer cotton blend’s because they don’t stretch as much as all cotton does.  Hear are some pics of the cardi vest……..

Maybe some time I’ll get brave enough to model what I make instead of always using Gertrude! Lol

On a different note, remember the two cats I watched for ten days?  The owner of those cats gave me a hair cut…..I must say that was the best hair cut I’ve had since moving to Southern Ca,  thank you Jacky (That’s how she spells it.)

What a busy weekend in SD.  Comic Con, the Del Mar horse races and a huge soccer game between Mexico and Madrid at Qualcomm Stadium.  No rooms left at the inn this weekend!

Happy knitting : )
